About Us

BioSciences Research Associates, Inc. (BSR) is an independent contract research laboratory providing scientific services to Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies for product development and clinical trial support. BSR is located in Cambridge, in among academic research centers of excellence including, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard, and in proximity to the Harvard Medical School and the Longwood Medical Area's prestigious Hospitals. In addition, the Cambridge/Boston area is home to many Biotechnology companies including Genzyme Corp. and Biogen Idec.

BSR is formally the Center for Blood Research Laboratories, Inc. (CBRL). CBRL originated as a wholly owned subsidiary of The CBR Biomedical Research Institute (now known as the Immune Disease Institute or IDI) a medical research center affiliated academically with Harvard Medical School and focused on inflammation and the immune response. The IDI roots go back to The Blood Research Institute founded in 1952 by Dr. Edwin J. Cohn, which subsequently merged with the Blood Grouping Laboratory directed by Dr. Louis Diamond to create the CBR in 1972.

BSR maintains an intimate association with IDI and has privileged access to IDI Senior Investigators and more than 400 biomedical researchers. This allows maintenance of competence in the rapidly expanding fields of immunology and inflammation, as well as new methods of analysis. BSR's own expertise in assay development, Bioassays validation and collective experiences in immunology enables BSR to provide our customers with efficient scientific services in a cGMP compliant environment.
